In the Country Brand Ranking Trade 2022-2023 report, just published by the Spanish consultancy Bloom Consulting, Gabon is ranked as the 13th most attractive country in Africa for trade. The Central African country has thus gained six places in the ranking compared to the previous year with a « very good » rating on its progress.

This means, according to some analysts, that the measures put in place by Gabon have increased the country’s commercial attractiveness. The Country Brand Ranking report combines economic performance, nation branding (which aims to make a country attractive) and the online presence of countries on trade-related topics to assess their attractiveness in this area.

Globally, Gabon is ranked 97th out of nearly 200 countries, while it is first in the CEMAC region. In the area, Gabon is followed by Cameroon, which is the 20th most attractive African country and 116th in the world, ahead of Congo (29th in Africa and 139th in the world), Chad (40th in Africa and 159th in the world), Equatorial Guinea (49th in Africa and 187th in the world) and Central Africa (53rd in Africa and 192nd in the world).

On the continent, the top 5 most attractive countries are Nigeria (36th in the world), South Africa (39th in the world), Ghana (48th in the world), Morocco (50th in the world) and Egypt (51st in the world).

Gabon is not included in the « Country Brand Ranking Tourism Edition 2022-2023 » which measures the attractiveness of countries for tourists,
