The Gabonese Head of State is in London where he is attending the coronation ceremony of King Charles III on Saturday 6 May. The day before, on Friday, he took part in the « Commonwealth Leaders Summit », the meeting of all the leaders of the 56 countries of this large organisation of which Gabon has been a member since June 2022.

« Education, employment … Gabon’s adherence to the Commonwealth offers great opportunities to our youth. Provided we set the necessary gateways. That’s the fact I pointed out during the Commonwealth Leaders Summit this May 5 in London,«  said the Gabonese president on Twitter and Facebook, photographed alongside Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister.

This Saturday, May 6, Ali Bongo Ondimba is among the 2000 hand-picked personalities who will attend the official coronation ceremony of King Charles III in Westminster Abbey.

Gabon has been a member of the Commonwealth since June 2022 following the Kigali Summit. This membership is part of the country’s desire to balance its international relations by diluting French influence whose political line is not always well understood by Libreville.
