Ali Bongo Ondimba is expected in London on October 18 for the ceremony of the raising of the Gabonese flag, symbol of Gabon’s membership of the Commonwealth, an organisation of which the country became a member on June 25.

The information, taken up since this morning by several media, is quite accurate.

For the Gabonese leader, this will be the second trip to London in a month. On 19 September, Ali Bongo Ondimba, a long-time acquaintance of the new King Charles III, was present in the English capital for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

At this stage, however, no confirmation has been received from the Renovation Palace about possible appointments for President Ali Bongo Ondimba on the sidelines of this ceremony. Media reports mention the names of Patricia Scotland, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Liz Truss, the new British Prime Minister and even King Charles III.

After this trip, the Gabonese head of state is expected to go to Sharm-El-Sheikh at the beginning of November for the COP 27 and to Washington in mid-December for the US-Africa Summit.
